A Queenstown Adventure Like No Other

With so many things to do in Queenstown it can be hard to choose your perfect adventure.  If you are not up for bungy jumping in Queenstown, have already done jet boating on the Shotover River, a wine tour seems a little tame and a Milford Sound day trip is too long and expensive, then maybe consider ziplining!

Hidden just outside Glenorchy, Paradise Ziplines delivers a Queenstown adventure you won’t find anywhere else. This is more than just ziplining — it’s a wilderness experience set in ancient native forest that dates back to the supercontinent Gondwana.

Here, on privately-owned land far from the crowds, you’ll glide over a glacial stream, zip through tree tunnels, and marvel at waterfalls and turquoise pools only accessible by our course.

From your first cliff-top launch to your final flight over the “Blue Lagoon,” every moment is framed by jaw-dropping mountain views and the peace of one of Aotearoa’s rarest forest ecosystems.

Why Our Forest is So Special

Native Beech Forest (Nothofagus) – Found only in New Zealand,  the towering red, and mountain beech trees create a lush canopy filled with moss, ferns, and the whisper of untouched wilderness.

Beech forests protect our rivers, store carbon, and support a delicate ecosystem. By zipping through them with care, you're connecting with one of the most important and beautiful natural treasures of Aotearoa.

This is your chance to see hidden parts of Queenstown’s wilderness that few others ever do.

The Experience

Think of it as canyoning without getting wet, hiking without the hard slog, and scenery you can’t find on a postcard.

From cliff-top panoramas to canyon slots and gentle forest glides, our course is a carefully crafted mix of thrill and beauty. You'll soar with open views over Mt Aspiring National Park and Paradise — a film location for The Lord of the Rings, zip through tree tunnels just above the rushing alpine stream and emerge over a turquoise Blue Lagoon.

Whether you’re ticking off adrenaline activities in Queenstown or searching for Glenorchy's best kept secret, this is it.

Let the adventure begin

After training the tour starts with an uphill walk over uneven ground through beautiful native red and mountain beech forest. There is about 100m of elevation gain over 500m of trail.  This walk includes plenty of stops to catch your breath and usually takes around 15-20 minutes, good mobility is required.

Our first line launches off a cliff and travels high above the Oxburn Stream giving a panoramic view of the course and the surrounding mountains made famous by Lord of the Rings, which are the backdrop to an area officially named Paradise.

Our next two lines are a canopy tour through the pristine native beech forest over the canyon, weaving up stream.

At halfway, on our fourth line, and one of the favourites (known as  the 'Orc Chasm') you'll zip 200 meters through a tree tunneled slot canyon, over a waterfall, only metres above the alpine stream's chasm. The next three lines also weave us downstream just meters above the rapids, following the curves of the alpine stream deep within the canyon, bringing us to the final line, the stunning 'Blue Lagoon'.

After Blue Lagoon, there is only a 100m flat walk back to base where our lovely guides take off your gear and take you back to where we picked you up from.

Safety First

Our experienced guides take care of everything. After a full safety briefing and practice zipline, you’ll be guided every step (and flight) of the way. One guide clips you on, the other works the brake and helps you off — all you need to do is take a deep breath and enjoy the ride.

Make a Day of It

After your zipline tour, explore the laid-back charm of Glenorchy — visit the lagoon boardwalk, ride to Paradise, or grab a lakeside bite. There’s no shortage of Queenstown activities nearby to round out your day in the wild.

SO.MUCH.FUN!

Paradise Zipline is hands down the best, most fun experience on the South Island! Dougie & Shane were so professional, with safety always a top priority. They were also very informative about the forest and area.

Absolutely amazing! We have done this as well as [competitor] and definitely think this is the best by a long way! Stunning scenery, the guides were great. 10/10. We’ve done a lot of NZ ziplines and this is our favourite

This Zipline is spectacular. It was well worth every cent. The scenery was amazing. I have done a number of zip lines in NZ & overseas and this would be the best!
