How the tour runs
Seven stages, about three and a half hours, Glenorchy to Glenorchy. Open any step for the detail.
We pick up from one place only: 13 Mull Street, on the corner of Jetty Street in Glenorchy. Wait outside the cafe at our signboard and our van will collect you at your pickup time, please note we require you to be there at this time. The tour will depart 10 mins later. There are public toilets behind the hall, opposite the petrol station, and more at our site.
We don’t have an office and there is no public access to our site – all trips start at 13 Mull Street.
Allow around 45 minutes to reach Glenorchy from Queenstown.
From Glenorchy the van heads up the valley, through farmlands toward the peaks of Mt Aspiring National Park, — the backdrop to numerous movies, TV series and adverts including The Lord of the Rings, The Heart of the Beast, Mission Impossible Fallout, Men In Kilts 2, Wolverine Origins, Narnia, The Hobbit and many more.
Your guides use the drive to share local history and interesting facts with you.
We’ll get you all prepared with a helmet, gloves and a harness. We have toilets on site and a secure area for you to store any gear you don’t want to take zipping.
Our certified guides do all of the “technical” stuff out on course, they hook you on, operate our brakes and take you off the line, meaning our course is suitable for complete beginners.
Before we leave base, the guides will demonstrate the techniques appropriate for our course and then spend a few minutes with each of you individually so you can practice & know what to expect, allowing you to get the most out of the experience.
The tour starts with an uphill walk through red and mountain beech forest — about 100m of elevation gain over 500m of trail, on uneven ground. It takes 15–20 minutes with plenty of stops to catch your breath. Good mobility and some fitness is required. Our guides use these stops to provide some interpretation of the forest, the building of the course and answer any burning questions you may have (like is Fergburger really worth the wait).
These beech trees (Nothofagus) are found only in New Zealand and trace back to the supercontinent Gondwana. The canopy holds moss, ferns and birdlife you won’t see from the road.
Line one launches off a cliff and travels high above the Oxburn Stream, opening up a panoramic view of Diamond Lake, Paradise and the mountains beyond. Lines two and three are a canopy tour weaving upstream over the canyon.
A short undulating walk takes you to line four — the Orc Chasm — which sends you 200 metres through a tree-tunnelled slot canyon, over a waterfall, only metres above the stream. From here on out it’s all downstream and at water level. A quick commuter line connects you to the last three lines which follow the curves of the alpine stream downstream, just above the rapids, before the final flight out over the turquoise Blue Lagoon.
Two guides work every line: one clips you on, the other brakes and helps you off. No experience needed.
After the Blue Lagoon it’s a flat 100m walk back to base, where the guides take your gear off , leaving you with that sense of awe and excitement of your zippping experience. You’ll collect your personal belongings and we’ll drive you back to where you were picked up. Total time is up to around 3.5 hours, Glenorchy to Glenorchy.

Getting there
Meet us at 13 Mull Street, Glenorchy, on the corner of Jetty and Mull Streets, outside Akin Café near the lake. Look for the pickup sign — we don’t have an office at this location.
Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled departure. We can’t guarantee we can wait for late arrivals, so allow plenty of time for the drive and any stops along the way.
There is free, unrestricted street parking in Glenorchy, as well as a parking area near the lake end of Mull Street.
Our zipline course is located on private land near Glenorchy, approximately one hour’s scenic drive from Queenstown. You cannot drive directly to the course, so everyone must meet us at our Glenorchy pickup point.
You have several transport options:
- Drive yourself: Enjoy the spectacular drive from Queenstown to Glenorchy. Allow at least one hour each way.
- Catch a shuttle: Seasonal (Nov – April) transport services operate between Queenstown and Glenorchy. Availability and departure times vary, so check directly with the provider and book your return journey. Book here with Info & Track Phone: +64 (3) 442 9708
- Hire a car: A rental car gives you flexibility to enjoy Glenorchy and the surrounding area before or after your tour. Try Evolve Rentals Queenstown who offer short term rental cars
- Book a taxi or private transfer: This is another option, although it can be considerably more expensive.
If you’re using a shuttle or private transfer, please let us know by putting a note in the box for special requirements when booking so we can coordinate your arrival where possible. Transport availability is limited, particularly during the busy season, so organise it early.
If booking the Info & Track shuttle – their 8am transport is fine to catch for our 9am trip – they have other options depending on the trip you wish to take:
– 8am (Queenstown to Glenorchy) for our 9am or 10am trips
– 11.15am (Queenstown to Glenorchy) for our 1.30 trip (please note you will need to arrange another method of getting back to Queenstown as their last shuttle returns to Queenstown at 3pm!)
Their return times are 3pm for either of our morning trips (you need to also book your space for the return journey).
Of course if you want maximum flexibility you can book a taxi/uber or private transport at a much greater cost.
About 45 minutes from downtown Queenstown, driving along the shore of Lake Wakatipu — one of the most scenic drives in the world, and worth allowing extra time for. Please build in a buffer so you’re not rushing – at times of heavy traffic it can take considerably longer especially if coming from out towards Queenstown Airport. We suggest using google maps to get an estimation, adding an a buffer – we are not able to wait for you if you are running late.
Yes to both. There are public toilets across from the petrol station, behind the hall, and we have toilets at our site too. There is street parking and also a car park just past our pick up area towards the lake. Please do not park in the actual pick up location outside the cafe as this is where our van needs to pull in.
“Ex Glenorchy” simply means your tour starts and finishes in Glenorchy, rather than Queenstown.
You’ll meet us in Glenorchy, travel with our team to the private zipline site, enjoy the guided adventure, and return to the same pickup point.
Our tour includes eight ziplines through beautiful native wilderness, with approximately 3.5 hours from Glenorchy pickup to drop-off. The drive from Queenstown is additional.
